Montgomery BOE to Review Early Literacy, Policies, Insurance Renewals and Student Programs

The Montgomery Township Board of Education is scheduled to meet Tuesday, May 19, at 6 p.m. at the Orchard Hill Elementary School cafeteria for a regular business meeting.
The agenda includes a superintendent’s presentation on early literacy, along with routine board reports, committee updates and several action items related to curriculum, district operations, finances, policies and personnel.
Among the items expected to be considered, the board is scheduled to review several policy updates. Policies listed for first reading include board meeting notices, legal notices, collective bargaining and contract approval, employee transfer and promotion opportunities, student identification cards and student transportation. The board is also expected to consider final adoption of policies related to employment contracts for teaching staff and support staff.
The curriculum agenda includes approval for Montgomery High School to continue membership in the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association for the 2026-27 school year, along with DAANJ membership. The board is also expected to approve the Charlotte Danielson teacher evaluation model and the New Jersey Principal Evaluation for Professional Learning Observation Instrument for the next school year.
A new World Cultures Program is listed for approval at Orchard Hill Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year. The board is also scheduled to consider approval of two high school English resources, Yellowface and James, for grades 9-12 English courses.
The agenda also includes several out-of-district student placements for the current and upcoming school years, including placements at Hunterdon Preparatory School, NuView Academy and The Center School.
On the finance side, the board is expected to accept monthly financial reports, approve budget transfers, and approve a bill list totaling $8,887,472.15 for the period from April 29 through May 19. The board is also scheduled to consider renewal of the district’s participation in the Schools Health Insurance Fund, as well as 2026-27 monthly premium rates for medical, dental and prescription coverage.
Other operational items include approval of fire alarm testing, maintenance and repair services through Encore Fire Protection; renewal of the Genesis Student Information System contract; renewal of the Share911 emergency communication system; an employee assistance program agreement with Penn Medicine; disposal of surplus cafeteria equipment; and an athletic training services agreement with Infinite Athletic Training, LLC.
The board is also scheduled to enter executive session to discuss matters involving privacy, collective bargaining, attorney-client privilege or contract negotiations, and personnel. Personnel resolutions may be considered after executive session.
The agenda includes two opportunities for public comment: one limited to action agenda items and another for new business from the public. Speakers are allotted up to three minutes.
