Montgomery Township has launched a new Rev 250 celebration page, is preparing a new online resident portal, and is reviewing planned upgrades to the Otto Kaufman Community Center and Senior Center, Township Business Administrator Lori Savron reported during the May 14 Township Committee meeting.

Savron said the township’s new Celebration Rev 250 page is now live on the municipal website. The page links to township initiatives and community partner programs connected to the 250th anniversary commemoration.

Among the upcoming events, Savron noted that the Van Harlingen Historical Society will present a program on the township’s Bicentennial Quilt on May 21. The quilt is currently displayed in the municipal building lobby, along with information explaining its significance to the township.

She also highlighted a Rotary Club event featuring the Atlantic Brass Band scheduled for June 12 at Montgomery High School, describing it as an event expected to be of interest to the community.

Savron also reported that township staff recently met with GovPilot regarding a new resident portal now in development. The township is targeting a July release date for the portal, which is expected to allow residents to track permit applications in real time and message township staff directly through the system.

The new portal follows the integration of GovPilot and SDL (Spatial Data Logic), which Savron said will benefit the township’s online permitting and resident-service functions.

The township is also closing out its transportation survey, which Savron said has received close to 600 responses. Once the survey data is analyzed, the township expects to share the results publicly.

Savron also reported that staff members are refining a list of renovation projects for the Otto Kaufman Community Center and the Senior Center. The township has secured a total of $1.35 million in grant funding for the work, including $500,000 from the state and $850,000 from the federal government.

She said the township is now receiving quotes and expects to return to the Township Committee with a more comprehensive project plan outlining proposed upgrades for both facilities.

Savron also said the township is updating its Youth Leadership Committee program, with plans to move toward a more project-based model for youth engagement and leadership development in local government.

The township is updating the program’s website and preparing to release applications for the next session. Some student projects are expected to begin over the summer, while others will begin in the fall with the new school year.

Savron said the township reviewed ways to expand hands-on opportunities for students and expects to share more details as the updated program moves forward.
