Rotary’s ‘Stars, Stripes and Brass’ Concert to Bring Atlantic Brass Band and Broadway Voice to Montgomery

Nicholas Mistretta

The Montgomery/Rocky Hill Rotary Club will mark America’s 250th anniversary celebration with “Stars, Stripes & Brass,” a live concert featuring the Atlantic Brass Band and Broadway vocalist Ciarán Sheehan.

The concert will be held Friday, June 12, at 7 p.m. at the Montgomery High School Performing Arts Center, 1016 County Route 601 in Skillman. The event is part of Rotary’s broader America in Harmony celebration, a three-part community series tied to the nation’s semiquincentennial observance.

The evening will feature the award-winning Atlantic Brass Band performing in the traditional British-style brass band format. The ensemble is a three-time North American Brass Band Champion and serves as Artist-in-Residence at Rowan University. The band has also appeared at the Gettysburg Brass Band Festival, the Great American Brass Band Festival, the International Trumpet Guild Conference and on multiple European tours, according to event materials posted by Montgomery Township.

Joining the band will be Sheehan, best known for his performances as The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway and in Toronto. His career has included sold-out performances at Carnegie Hall and appearances at several major public and memorial events, including the internationally televised memorial Mass for John and Carolyn Kennedy Jr. and the funeral service for Beau Biden, according to the township event listing.

Organizers describe the concert as the first time the Atlantic Brass Band and Sheehan will perform together for a program of traditional, patriotic and American music in Montgomery. The Rotary Club’s event page describes the performance as an evening of brass, vocals, music and community.

The concert is one piece of the Rotary Club’s America in Harmony initiative, which also includes Flags for Heroes from June 1 to 15 and the Run With Rotary event on June 14 at Skillman Park. Rotary describes the series as a celebration of service, music and civic pride connected to the country’s 250th anniversary.

Advance tickets for “Stars, Stripes & Brass” are listed at $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors 65 and older. Tickets at the door are listed at $25 for adults and $15 for students, according to the Atlantic Brass Band event listing.
