Montgomery Container Facility to Temporarily Close for Sewer Construction

Nicholas Mistretta

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, NJ — Montgomery Township officials have announced the temporary closure of the municipal container facility at the Department of Public Works yard due to upcoming sewer main construction.

The facility, located at 12 Harlingen Road in Belle Mead, will be closed to the public beginning April 20 through approximately July 20, according to a notice issued by the township.

During this period, public access to the Public Works yard will be restricted, and the container facility will not be available for use. In addition, all scheduled appointments for large item disposal will be canceled for the duration of the closure.

Township officials indicated that the closure is necessary to accommodate sewer infrastructure work at the site. Residents who rely on the facility for disposal services are encouraged to plan accordingly and monitor township communications for updates on reopening timelines or alternative arrangements.

The container facility serves as a key resource for residents seeking to dispose of bulk items and other materials not typically collected through regular curbside services. Its temporary closure is expected to impact those planning spring and early summer cleanouts.

Further information will be provided by the township as construction progresses.
