Schwartz, Mutton Lead Dominant Cougar Shutout Over Sayreville

Montgomery’s boys lacrosse team delivered a commanding performance from start to finish, rolling to a 13-0 victory over Sayreville to improve to 7-4 on the season.
The Cougars were in control throughout the matchup, producing a balanced offensive attack while completely shutting down Sayreville on the defensive end. Montgomery finished with 13 goals and 20 total points in one of its most complete efforts of the year.
Will Schwartz led the way with a standout all-around performance, scoring three goals and dishing out five assists for a game-high eight points. Zach Mutton added four goals and one assist, while Patrick Petrozzini scored twice. Miles Dawson also found the net twice, and John Balasz and Stephen Lu each added a goal.
Lu also contributed an assist and was especially active in other areas of the game, leading Montgomery with eight ground balls. Brady Forma added two ground balls as the Cougars controlled possession and tempo throughout the contest.
Montgomery’s offense showed both firepower and unselfish play, recording seven assists on 13 goals. In addition to Schwartz’s five helpers, Mutton and Lu each recorded an assist as the Cougars repeatedly created quality scoring chances.
Defensively, Montgomery was just as sharp, holding Sayreville off the scoreboard and turning in a complete shutout effort. While the box score did not list individual goalie statistics, the Cougars’ defensive unit kept Sayreville from generating any scoring production.
With the win, Montgomery moved to 7-4 and continued to build momentum as the season heads deeper into the spring.
