Headline News Montgomery Welcomes FalRooney as New Community Partner

Nicholas Mistretta

Headline News Montgomery is proud to announce a dynamic new partnership with FalRooney, a local institution with deep roots in Montgomery and a legacy of enriching the lives of young people and families throughout the community. This alliance reflects not only a shared commitment to Montgomery’s growth and spirit but also a celebration of the history, traditions, and values that define our town.

FalRooney was founded in 2006 by Johnny Rooney and Mike Falco, two longtime Montgomery educators whose names are synonymous with dedication and community pride. Rooney, a 1992 graduate of Montgomery High School, has taught in the district for 29 years, while Falco has been inspiring students here for the past 20 years. Together, they built FalRooney from a local baseball and softball camp into a thriving camp and events business that now reaches families throughout the tri-state area.

At its core, FalRooney’s summer camp program has become a Montgomery tradition. Designed for students entering first through ninth grade, the camps are structured like an all-day gym class, where teams compete in spirited games for the coveted Cup at week’s end. The energy, camaraderie, and fun reflect exactly what makes Montgomery’s youth programs so special — they’re about much more than just sports; they’re about building friendships, confidence, and community.

Perhaps the most meaningful tradition at FalRooney is the Michael Damato Award, which has been a part of camp culture for 15 years. Each summer, campers and counselors gather on the final Friday for Michael Damato Day, honoring a young boy whose love of sports, radiant smile, and lasting values continue to inspire so many years later. Four campers are selected each year for the award, carrying forward Michael’s legacy in a way that touches families across Montgomery Township.

Beyond camps, FalRooney has grown into a premier provider of unforgettable events. Whether it’s a birthday party, Bar or Bat Mitzvah, or even a corporate team-building event, the FalRooney team knows how to bring the fun. With activities tailored for every age group, from five to fifty, they’ve built a reputation for creating experiences that are both exciting and meaningful.

What makes this new partnership so exciting is the natural fit between FalRooney and Headline News Montgomery. Both organizations are rooted in Montgomery’s history and dedicated to celebrating the achievements, stories, and traditions that make our community strong. Together, we look forward to amplifying the positive impact of FalRooney’s work while continuing to highlight the spirit of Montgomery through the stories we share.
