MONTGOMERY, NJ — It was a big day for Montgomery High School soccer, with both Cougar teams finding the back of the net six times in a pair of convincing victories.
The Montgomery girls pulled away from Hillsborough for a 6-2 win, powered by a four-goal performance from Emma Seamon, while the boys shut out College Achieve Central 6-0 behind a hat trick from Macintyre Jerdonek. The victories moved the girls to 5-4 and the boys to 6-4.
Seamon Scores Four as Girls Pull Away From Hillsborough
Montgomery’s girls entered halftime holding a narrow 3-2 advantage over Hillsborough before taking complete control after the break. The Cougars scored three unanswered goals in the second half and kept Hillsborough off the board to turn a competitive game into a 6-2 victory. Seamon was at the center of the offensive surge, scoring four of Montgomery’s six goals for an eight-point performance. Quinn Donahue contributed across the attack, finishing with one goal and three assists for five points, while Alex Kasimatis added Montgomery’s other goal. Mia Quinn and Gia Sudhi each recorded an assist as five Cougars contributed to the scoring. Montgomery goalkeeper Ellie Andes finished with eight saves, anchoring a defensive effort that shut out Hillsborough throughout the second half. The victory pushed Montgomery above the .500 mark at 5-4, continuing an offensive surge led by Seamon and supported by a balanced group of playmakers.
Jerdonek Hat Trick Leads Boys to 6-0 Shutout
The Montgomery boys were equally productive offensively — and even more dominant on the scoreboard. The Cougars scored three times in each half to defeat College Achieve Central 6-0. Macintyre Jerdonek led the way with a hat trick and an assist, accounting for seven points in the victory. Dylan Heines also delivered a major offensive performance, scoring twice and assisting on two more goals for six points. Christiano Sferra added Montgomery’s sixth goal, while Tomas Tanoue and Lucas Cerra each recorded an assist. Montgomery generated 16 shots on goal, more than doubling College Achieve Central’s seven. The Cougars established control early with three first-half goals and never let up, adding three more after intermission.
Ande Posts the Shutou
While Montgomery’s offense filled the scoresheet, goalkeeper Nischal Ande and the Cougar defense kept College Achieve Central completely off it. Ande made seven saves to record the shutout. College Achieve goalkeeper Jeremy Herrera Martinez faced considerable pressure throughout the game and finished with 10 saves despite Montgomery’s six-goal output. The win improved Montgomery to 6-4, while College Achieve Central fell to 7-4-1.
Twelve Goals, Two Cougar Victories
Across the two games, Montgomery produced 12 goals, with Seamon and Jerdonek combining for seven of them. The girls turned a one-goal halftime lead into a four-goal victory, while the boys paired a six-goal offensive performance with a clean sheet at the other end. For Montgomery soccer, it was a day highlighted by two standout individual efforts, Seamon’s four-goal performance and Jerdonek’s hat trick backed by strong contributions throughout both Cougar lineups.
