Boys Lacrosse Falls to Robbbinsville
Montgomery’s boys lacrosse team dropped an 8–3 decision to a strong Robbinsville squad, which improved to 5-1 on the season.
The Cougars (2-3) showed early promise, taking a 2-1 lead after the first quarter behind aggressive play and early scoring chances. However, Robbinsville settled in defensively and controlled the middle portions of the game, outscoring Montgomery 5-1 over the second and third quarters to seize control.
Colin Long led the Cougars offensively with two goals, while Zach Mutton added a goal and an assist. Will Schwartz contributed an assist, and Miles Dawson was active in the faceoff circle, winning 5 of 14 attempts.
Defensively, goalkeeper Alexander Mancilla recorded six saves, but Robbinsville’s balanced attack — led by Jack Alexander and Travis Sikorski — proved difficult to contain.
Girls Lacrosse Rallies, Remains Unbeaten
Montgomery’s girls lacrosse team continued its strong start, improving to 6-0 with a 13–8 victory over Delaware Valley.
After falling behind 6-4 in the first quarter, the Cougars responded with a dominant stretch, outscoring Delaware Valley 9-2 over the final three periods. The defensive adjustment and improved possession play proved decisive.
Lexi Lopez paced the offense with four goals and an assist, while Lexi Sambol added two goals and two assists. Carson Benedict and Emma Scrudato each contributed two goals and an assist, and Sophia Soron chipped in two goals.
Montgomery’s balanced scoring and second-half defensive effort helped secure the comeback win, as the Cougars continued to establish themselves as one of the area’s top teams.
Boys Tennis Narrowly Edged by Hillsborough
The boys tennis team fell just short in a competitive 3-2 loss to undefeated Hillsborough.
Juan Miguel Pereyra delivered a strong performance at first singles, earning a decisive straight-sets victory. Montgomery also picked up a win at second doubles, where Arjun Poddar and Sanjay Balaji secured a 6-2, 7-5 victory.
Several matches were tightly contested, including a three-set battle at third singles, but Hillsborough ultimately prevailed in the remaining matchups to clinch the team victory.
Baseball Shut Down by Rutgers Prep
Montgomery’s baseball team struggled offensively in a 10-0 loss to Rutgers Prep.
The Cougars managed just one hit on the day — a single from Alex Bender — as Rutgers Prep’s pitching staff controlled the game throughout. Starting pitcher Peter Wheeler and reliever Anuj Bandireddy combined for a one-hit shutout.
Montgomery pitchers showed flashes of effectiveness early, but Rutgers Prep capitalized on key opportunities and defensive miscues to build separation.
Softball Powers Past Trenton in Offensive Showcase
The highlight of the day came from Montgomery softball, which delivered a commanding 20-1 victory over Trenton.
The Cougars (6-2) erupted for 22 hits, scoring early and often to overwhelm their opponent. Montgomery plated eight runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Matilda Suh and Ryane Riddell each had standout performances, combining for eight hits and six RBIs. Grace Gandolfo added three hits and four RBIs, while Allison McKnight chipped in three hits and three RBIs in a balanced team effort.
In the circle, Riddell was dominant, allowing just one hit over five scoreless innings while striking out eight.
