Correction: January 6 Board of Education Vote on Agenda Item 1.1

In our coverage of the January 6, 2026 Montgomery Board of Education reorganization meeting, Headline News Montgomery incorrectly reported that Board Vice President Maria Spina abstained from voting on Agenda Item 1.1.

This was inaccurate. Maria Spina did not abstain from Item 1.1 or from any other action item on the January 6 agenda. She voted “yes” on all items.

The three board members who abstained on Item 1.1 were:

• Kathryn Worland
• Julius Nunez
• Francine Pfeffer
