Montgomery Boys Soccer Edges Franklin, 2-1, Behind Balanced Attack
The Montgomery Cougars boys varsity soccer team continued their strong start to the season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Franklin on Thursday, improving their record to 4-1.
Montgomery struck first in the opening half when senior Sid Goyal found the back of the net to give the Cougars an early lead. Franklin answered before the break, as Daniel Ordonez capitalized on a scoring chance to even the match at 1-1.
The Cougars regained control in the second half. Ryan Spicer scored what proved to be the game-winner, with assists coming from playmakers Mac Jerdonek and Nate Doelling, who kept Franklin’s defense under constant pressure.
Goalkeeper Alex Acot stood tall in net, registering four saves on seven shots to preserve the victory. On the other end, Franklin keeper Shourya Patel turned away seven shots to keep his team in the game.
Montgomery’s balanced offense and steady defensive effort were the difference, as the Cougars outshot Franklin 9-7 and stayed composed in key moments.
Montgomery Girls Tennis Edges Ridge in 3-2 Thriller
