Montgomery, NJ – The Montgomery Cougars girls’ varsity softball team faced a tough start to their 2024 season, falling to Gill St. Bernard, 15-0, in a four-inning run-rule loss on Monday.

Montgomery struggled offensively, managing just three hits against Gill St. Bernard’s dominant pitching. Ryane Riddell and Connor Fogarty each went 1-for-2 at the plate, while Stella Cunha provided the only other hit, going a perfect 1-for-1.

On the mound, Riddell started for the Cougars, pitching three innings while allowing nine hits and ten runs. Fogerty came in for relief, tossing one inning and surrendering four hits and five runs. Despite their efforts, Gill St. Bernard’s offense proved too much to handle.

Defensively, Montgomery committed just one error, but Gill St. Bernard’s aggressive bats and effective pitching kept the Cougars from gaining momentum.
