Regional Plan Targets Flooding and Stormwater Problems

Township Business Administrator Lori Savron highlighted Montgomery’s participation in a regional stormwater-planning effort involving communities within the Lower Millstone River watershed.
The initiative is only the second of its kind in New Jersey and recognizes that flooding and drainage problems often cross municipal boundaries.
Rather than having each town develop a separate plan, participating municipalities will pool resources and examine how stormwater conditions in Montgomery, Hillsborough, Franklin and surrounding communities affect one another.
The township recently hosted the project’s first public information session. An online survey seeking reports of flooding, drainage problems and other watershed concerns will remain open through Aug. 4.
Officials said information submitted by residents and businesses could help planners identify problem areas and develop recommendations. A draft regional plan is expected to be released for public review in the fall.
