Rahma Center Eid Celebration Supported by Montgomery Police Partnership
Enhanced police presence provided during prayer services as township leaders emphasize safety, unity and religious freedom
MONTGOMERY — The Rahma Center and members of the Montgomery Muslim community gathered Wednesday, May 27, to celebrate Eid with support from the Montgomery Township Police Department and township leaders.
The police department provided an enhanced presence and security measures during Eid prayer services to help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for worshippers and their families. Officials said there were no known credible threats, but the department took proactive steps out of an abundance of caution.
Eid is one of the most significant religious observances in the Muslim community, bringing together families and congregants for prayer, reflection, fellowship and gratitude.
Police Chief Silvio Bet said the department remains committed to protecting all residents and supporting the right of every faith community to worship safely and freely.
“The Montgomery Township Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all members of our community, including those gathering for religious observances and prayer services,” Bet said. “Together, we will continue to stand against hate and uphold the values of safety, respect, and unity that define our community.”
The Rahma Center and members of the Montgomery Muslim community expressed appreciation for the department’s support, as well as the coordination of Mayor Neena Singh and community leaders.
“Your leadership, along with the support and coordination of Mayor Singh and community leaders, reflects the values of unity, respect, and inclusion that make our township strong,” said Tufail Tahir, a Rahma Center board member, speaking on behalf of the Montgomery Muslim community.
Tahir said the police presence provided reassurance to worshippers during the Eid gathering and allowed families to participate with peace of mind. He also noted that faith-based communities across the country continue to face growing concerns, making visible local support and public-safety partnerships especially meaningful.
Community leaders said the collaboration reflects Montgomery Township’s broader commitment to being an inclusive and welcoming community where residents of all backgrounds, cultures and faith traditions can live, work and worship safely.
The Eid celebration brought together families, friends and neighbors in a spirit of fellowship and gratitude. Organizers thanked the officers and personnel who assisted with the event and reaffirmed their commitment to continued engagement with township officials, police and community partners.
