Montgomery’s boys lacrosse team turned in a strong all-around effort in a 10-5 victory over Watchung Hills, with Senior, Patrick Petrozzini reaching a major career milestone in the process.
Petrozzini scored four goals and added two assists, including the helper on a goal by Zach Mutton that marked his 100th career point. Petrozzini’s milestone helped lead Montgomery to its fifth win of the season as the Cougars improved to 5-4.

Montgomery built a 4-2 halftime lead before continuing to control play in the second half. After both teams scored twice in the third quarter, the Cougars pulled away with a four-goal fourth quarter to seal the win.
Mutton matched Petrozzini with five goals in a dominant offensive showing, while Miles Dawson played the role of facilitator with three assists. Will Schwartz added a goal and an assist for Montgomery.
The Cougars also got strong possession and hustle numbers across the field. Mutton led the team with nine ground balls, while Dawson collected seven and Petrozzini added five. Schwartz, Luke McClure, and Stephen Lu each contributed three ground balls, helping Montgomery pile up 39 as a team. John Balasz, Brady Forma, and Cristiano Sferra also chipped in defensively and in transition.
Montgomery generated 20 shots on goal and consistently applied pressure throughout the contest, particularly late, as the Cougars outscored Watchung Hills 4-0 in the final quarter.
The day, however, belonged to Petrozzini, whose four-goal, six-point outing was highlighted by the milestone assist that pushed him to 100 career points — an accomplishment that reflects both his scoring touch and his ability to create for teammates.
