
Montgomery Wrestling Secures Dominant 44-26 Victory Over North Brunswick

Montgomery High School’s wrestling team put on a commanding performance in their recent matchup against North Brunswick, securing a 44-26 victory on the mat. The Cougars demonstrated their strength across multiple weight classes, notching several crucial falls to overpower their opponents.
Key Matches and Results:
The match started off strong for Montgomery at 106 pounds, with Evan Grant pinning Christopher Lopez in just 1:14, giving Montgomery an early lead. North Brunswick responded at 113 pounds, as Jayko Luna dominated Sergio Yuman with a 16-2 major decision to put the Raiders on the board.
Montgomery regained momentum at 120 pounds, where Gavin Fong secured a 1:21 fall over Antonio Pizza, further extending their lead. However, North Brunswick clawed back at 126 pounds, with Jasper Huang earning a 10-3 decision over Oliver King.
North Brunswick continued their push at 132 pounds, as Sean McNulty defeated Shay Cheskis with a 12-4 major decision, closing the gap. But Montgomery struck back in a big way at 138 pounds, where Nicholas Reyes pinned Mekhi Ford in just 1:27, swinging momentum back in the Cougars’ favor.
The back-and-forth battle continued at 144 pounds, with Jason Estrada of North Brunswick earning a hard-fought 16-9 decision over Josh Malek. However, Montgomery’s Jackson Obe turned the tide at 150 pounds, pinning Sean Cannon in 3:37 to widen the lead.
A major highlight for North Brunswick came at 157 pounds, where Joldin Miranda pinned Said Montelongo Velasco in a lightning-fast 26 seconds, keeping the Raiders in contention. However, Montgomery’s consistent dominance prevailed, as Elior Mezhericher won a 4-1 decision at 165 pounds, followed by Aiden Shakirov’s 4:28 fall over Malcolm Sommer at 175 pounds.
Montgomery continued to rack up points at 190 pounds, with Austin Allen delivering a 15-0 technical fall over Mahmoud Manaem, while at 215 pounds, John Colon kept North Brunswick alive with a 1:51 fall over Aryan Ahmad.
The final match of the night saw Jack Dowling of Montgomery securing a 3:40 pin over Jaime Andino at 285 pounds, capping off an impressive team victory for the Cougars.
