Montgomery Township to Honor Local Heroes at Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

Nicholas Mistretta

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Montgomery Township will once again come together to honor the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans on Sunday, November 9, 2025, with a community Veterans Day Ceremony at the Montgomery Veterans Memorial in Veterans Park.

The event will begin with a Procession at 1:45 p.m., starting at the intersection of Harlingen Road and Devon Drive and concluding at Veterans Park on Harlingen Road. The official ceremony will follow at 2:00 p.m., bringing together residents, community leaders, students, and veterans in a moving tribute to those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

A Community Celebration of Service
The afternoon’s program will feature historical military displays, the Presentation of Colors by the Boy and Girl Scouts of Montgomery, and the recognition of local veterans in attendance. Students from Montgomery Lower Middle School will share readings, and the school’s chorus representatives will perform musical selections to honor the day. The ceremony will conclude with the solemn playing of “Taps.”

Distinguished Speakers and Guests
This year’s speakers include Minister Shelly BellMontgomery Township Mayor Neena Singh, and Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (District 12), who will deliver the keynote address. Additional remarks will be offered by Lisa Romano, Principal of Montgomery Township Lower Middle School; Mike Maloney of Rolling Thunder; and Dimitra Bairaktaris, Chairperson of the Montgomery Veterans Memorial Committee.

Honoring Service, Past and Present
The annual event serves as both a remembrance and a celebration — an opportunity for residents to reflect on the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of those who have served in the military. “Veterans Day reminds us that freedom is never free,” said Mayor Singh. “It’s a day for our community to express gratitude to the men and women whose service continues to safeguard the values we hold dear.”
