Montgomery Township Board of Education to Hold Crucial Budget Meeting April 29

Residents Encouraged to Attend

Nicholas Mistretta

Montgomery, NJ — On Tuesday, April 29, the Montgomery Township Board of Education will convene for a pivotal public meeting to vote on the district’s final budget for the upcoming school year. The meeting, which will be held at the OHES at 7:00 p.m., marks the last opportunity for residents to voice their opinions before the board casts its final vote.

At the heart of the discussion is a major and potentially divisive proposal: the use of a healthcare waiver that would allow the district to exceed the state-mandated 2% cap on budget increases. If approved, the waiver would permit the district to spend an additional $2.6 million, a move that has drawn mixed reactions from community members. This meeting is the community’s best chance to gain a deeper understanding of the school budgeting process and to share feedback that could shape the final outcome. Residents are strongly encouraged to attend, listen to all perspectives, and participate during the public comment portion.

The stakes are both academic and financial — the decisions made on April 29 will directly affect the quality of education and the tax bill for every Montgomery Township resident.
