MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, NJ — As the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, the Montgomery/Rocky Hill Rotary is bringing the community together with a three-part celebration designed to honor service, music, and civic pride.
Titled “Harmony in America,” the long weekend series is part of the broader national semi-quincentennial observance and aims to unite residents of all ages through reflection, gratitude, and shared experience.
Organizers say the initiative reflects Rotary’s longstanding commitment to community engagement and service.
“Harmony in America is about more than celebration,” organizers noted. “It’s about recognizing the people who make a difference every day and bringing the community together in a meaningful way.”
Flags for Heroes: A Community Tribute
The celebration begins with Flags for Heroes, running June 1 through June 15 on the front lawn of Montgomery High School.
A field of American flags will be installed in a striking display visible from Route 601, creating a powerful visual tribute to individuals who have made an impact in the lives of others.
The installation honors a wide range of everyday heroes, including veterans, first responders, educators, healthcare workers, parents, mentors, and community members whose contributions often go unrecognized.
Now in its sixth year, Flags for Heroes has become a meaningful local tradition. In 2026, the display takes on added significance as part of the nation’s milestone anniversary, serving as a reminder of service, sacrifice, and the enduring strength of community.
Stars, Stripes and Brass: A Night of Music and Celebration
On Friday, June 12, the celebration continues with “Stars, Stripes and Brass,” a live concert at Montgomery High School’s Performing Arts Center.
The evening will feature the acclaimed Atlantic Brass Band alongside Broadway vocalist Ciaran Sheehan in a spirited performance celebrating American music and culture.
Organizers describe the concert as a centerpiece event—bringing together the arts and patriotism in a lively, community-focused setting.
Run with Rotary: A Community Tradition Returns
The weekend concludes on Sunday, June 14, with the 18th annual Run with Rotary, a long-standing community event that welcomes both competitive runners and casual participants.
In recognition of the milestone year, the event returns to its original race format, offering a nod to its roots while continuing to promote wellness, community connection, and charitable giving.
A Celebration Rooted in Service
The Montgomery/Rocky Hill Rotary Foundation, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has long been a driving force behind community initiatives in the area. Through “Harmony in America,” the organization is expanding that mission—connecting residents through shared values of service, unity, and civic pride.
As the nation prepares to mark 250 years of independence, local organizers hope the series will leave a lasting impression.
“This is about coming together,” organizers said. “Honoring where we’ve been, appreciating those who serve, and celebrating what makes our community strong.”
