Montgomery Township — On Saturday, September 30th, the Montgomery Municipal Complex on Community Drive became a gathering place for gratitude and celebration as the Township hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch. The event recognized the extraordinary individuals whose dedication and service strengthen the community, including municipal board and commission members, EMS personnel, firefighters, and nonprofit volunteers.

Mayor Neena Singh welcomed attendees with heartfelt remarks, noting the breadth and impact of volunteer efforts in Montgomery. “It is such a joy to be with you today—surrounded by the best people in Montgomery—those who give back so selflessly to our community,” she said. “This gathering is one of my favorite traditions because it gives us a chance to pause, look around this room, and see the heart of our township.”

The brunch also featured special guests from the 16th Legislative District for the 2024–2025 session: Senator Andrew Zwicker, Assemblyman Roy Freiman, and Assemblywoman Mitchelle Drulis. The representatives were on hand to present proclamations to each of the honored volunteers, recognizing their dedication and contributions to Montgomery.

Mayor Singh highlighted the tireless work of first responders, noting, “Our volunteer EMS and fire companies are on call 24/7, 365 days a year. They respond with professionalism, courage, and compassion, often in the most difficult moments.” She also praised the dedication of board and commission members, emphasizing that their countless hours spent reviewing plans and shaping policy help Montgomery grow responsibly.

Nonprofit volunteers and community partners were celebrated for their role in nurturing Montgomery’s culture of compassion. “From supporting seniors and families, to advocating for open space and sustainability, to mentoring the next generation, you expand the impact of what a small township can accomplish,” Singh said.

Throughout the brunch, volunteers were reminded of the tangible effects of their efforts, from safer streets and preserved open spaces to the strong bonds connecting neighbors. “Each of you has your own story about why you chose to volunteer,” the Mayor said. “Whatever the reason, you have made a difference. And while your contributions are sometimes quiet or behind the scenes, please know they are never unnoticed.”

The event was more than a celebration—it was a testament to the enduring spirit of service that defines Montgomery. As Singh concluded, “Thank you for showing up, for lending your time and talents, and for reminding us that when we work together, there is nothing Montgomery cannot achieve. Together, let’s keep working hard for a Montgomery that reflects the very best of us: a community of service, compassion, and care.”

The Volunteer Appreciation Brunch, complete with food, fellowship, and reflection, offered the township’s residents a small token of gratitude for their large and lasting contributions to the community.
