Girls Lacrosse Shines, Boys Lacrosse and Softball Struggle
It was a mixed day for Montgomery High School sports on Tuesday, with the Girls Lacrosse team delivering a commanding win, while the Boys Lacrosse and Softball teams faced tough defeats.

Girls Lacrosse Dominates Watchung Hills
The Montgomery Girls Lacrosse team extended their winning record to 8-4 with a 16-7 victory over Watchung Hills at Cougar Stadium. The Cougars came out firing, scoring six goals in the first quarter and never looking back. They added four goals in both the second and third quarters, and two more in the fourth to seal the win.

Ellie Pizzulli and Emma Scrudato led the scoring charge with four goals apiece. Sophie Soron, Lexi Sambol, and Kennedy Dexter each netted two, while Mollie Little and Lexi Lopez chipped in one goal each. The Cougars were relentless on offense, firing 26 shots on goal and scooping up 18 ground balls.

In the cage, Reagan McCoy faced 14 shots and came away with seven saves to anchor the defense.

Boys Lacrosse Falls to Immaculata
The Boys Lacrosse team had a tough outing on the road, falling to Immaculata 13-5. The loss drops the Cougars to 2-8 on the season. Despite moments of solid play, Montgomery struggled to contain Immaculata’s offense and couldn’t generate enough scoring chances to stay competitive.

Softball Drops Another in Run-Rule Loss
The struggles continued for the Montgomery Softball team, who dropped a run-shortened 15-1 game to Delaware Valley. The Terriers exploded for six runs in each of the first two innings and never let up. The Cougars managed to plate a single run in the bottom of the first but were held scoreless the rest of the way.

Bright spots were few, but Maggie McGlynn shined at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a single and a double. Ryanne Riddell was 1-for-2 with an RBI double that scored Conner Fogarty, who reached on a walk. Stella Sunha added a single to round out Montgomery’s four-hit effort.

Defensively, the Cougars committed nine errors, adding to their woes. Fogarty pitched 3.2 innings, allowing eight hits and two earned runs with five walks. Riddell threw 1.1 innings, yielding six hits and three earned runs, also issuing five walks.
