
Montgomery Cougars Dominate West Windsor-Plainsboro to Claim NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 Title

Montgomery, NJ – The Montgomery Cougars roared to victory in dominant fashion, crushing the West Windsor-Plainsboro Knights 80-41 to claim the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 championship. A packed home crowd of students, parents, alumni, and basketball enthusiasts filled the stands to witness an incredible post season performance.
The game began as a tightly contested battle, with the first quarter ending in a close score. However, once the Cougars found their rhythm, there was no looking back. Their explosive offense and relentless defense overwhelmed the Knights, turning the game into a one-sided affair.
Leading the charge was junior standout Ethan Lin, who lit up the scoreboard with 26 points, including six three-pointers. Senior Christian Hill contributed 19 points, with 15 of them also coming from beyond the arc. The Cougars’ deep roster provided ample support, with Bohdan Biekietov adding 9 points, Kyryl Streltsov chipping in 8, and both Connor Benedict and Braden Ginsberg scoring 5 points each.
Montgomery’s relentless defensive pressure and near flawless shooting proved to be too much for the Knights, as the Cougars pulled away in the second quarter and never let up.
When asked about how well coached the team was, Assistant Coach Joe Bassford, noted the abundance of talent Coach Grundy and he have been blessed with.
The win cements their place as Central Jersey Group 4 champions, capping off a remarkable season.
