MONTGOMERY — As the first anniversary of Kim Borredon’s passing approaches, her family and the Alfonso’s Pizza community are preparing to honor her life in a way that reflects the generosity, compassion and commitment to others for which she was known.
On June 18, Alfonso’s Pizza will donate half of the day’s earnings to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The fundraiser will provide members of the community with an opportunity to remember Kim while supporting an organization dedicated to cancer care and research.
For decades, Kim was an unmistakable presence at Alfonso’s and a beloved member of the Montgomery community. She was more than the person greeting customers, managing the restaurant or keeping its busy operation moving. Her warmth, tireless work ethic and ability to make people feel welcome helped transform Alfonso’s into a gathering place that generations of local families came to regard as a second home.
Kim’s influence was also felt by the many young people who began their working lives at Alfonso’s. Under her guidance, employees learned responsibility, teamwork, patience and the importance of treating others with kindness. Her steady leadership left a lasting impression on countless former staff members and their families.
The June 18 fundraiser is a meaningful continuation of that legacy. By supporting Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the Borredon family is turning a difficult anniversary into an opportunity to help others and contribute to work that can make a difference in the lives of patients and families affected by cancer.
Kim’s absence continues to be deeply felt by her family, friends, the Alfonso’s staff and the wider Montgomery community. Her spirit, however, remains present in the restaurant she helped shape and in the many people whose lives were touched by her friendship, encouragement and generosity.
Community members are invited to visit Alfonso’s Pizza on June 18, share a meal and join the Borredon family in celebrating Kim’s life while supporting an important cause.
Through this tribute, Kim’s legacy of caring for others will continue—one act of generosity at a time.
