A New Year, A New Chapter: Headline News Montgomery Enters Year Two
Nicholas Mistretta
As we welcome 2026, we want to pause and wish every resident of Montgomery and Rocky Hill a happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year.
This January is a milestone for us as well. On January 3, Headline News Montgomery turns one.
In just twelve months, we’ve moved beyond the “new venture” stage and into something much more important: an established, trusted source of local news. That only happened because you chose to read, share, and engage with our work. We do not take that trust lightly.
From the beginning, our coverage has been rooted in three core commitments:
- Straight Reporting – We show up, we listen, and we report. Township Committee, Planning Board, School Board, affordable housing, public safety, Rotary —we’re there, so residents don’t have to wonder what really happened.
- Cougar Sports, Seriously Covered – From varsity basketball and wrestling to swim meets and beyond, we treat Montgomery athletics with the same professionalism as any major outlet. Box scores, game stories, and context that honors the work of our student-athletes and coaches.
- Less Fluff, More Substance – We focus on decisions, outcomes, and stories that shape life in Montgomery and Rocky Hill.
In a relatively short time, Headline News Montgomery has helped shift how local information circulates—away from scattered social media chatter and toward centralized, consistent, factual coverage. Our goal has never been to be the loudest voice, just the most reliable.
As we turn the page into our second year, we are proud to reaffirm what has guided us from day one: a commitment to accurate, thoughtful, community-focused journalism.
We are no longer the new kid in town. Over the past year, you’ve trusted us to cover local government, Cougar sports, community events, and the people who make this place special. That trust is something we work every day to earn and keep.
In year two, we will:
- Dig deeper into the issues that matter to your family and your neighborhood.
- Bring you context—not just headlines—on policy decisions, budgets, development, and public safety.
- Continue to spotlight the achievements of our students, volunteers, first responders, and local organizations.
Most of all, we will continue to respect your time and your intelligence.
From all of us at Headline News Montgomery, thank you for being with us in our first year. We look forward to serving you even better in 2026.
