Montgomery High School Warns of Heavy Traffic for Aug. 22 SAT Administration

MONTGOMERY, NJ — Montgomery High School is advising students, families and local residents to prepare for significant traffic congestion Saturday morning, Aug. 22, when more than 1,500 students are expected on campus for the SAT.
District officials said the August SAT is the largest administration of the year and is likely to create heavy traffic in and around the high school campus, particularly along Route 601.
To help reduce congestion, Montgomery students and families are being asked to use alternate campus entrances rather than the main entrance.
Local students and families should enter the high school campus through the Camp Meeting Road entrance.
Students driving themselves should proceed to the student parking lot located between the Board of Education building and the marching band practice field.
Families dropping off students should travel around the rear of Montgomery High School and use the bus drop-off lot.
Drivers traveling southeast on Route 601 may also enter using South Campus Drive. The district is asking motorists not to make a left turn from Route 601 onto South Campus Drive.
By directing local residents to alternate entrances, school officials hope to reduce congestion at the main entrance for students and families traveling to Montgomery from outside the district.
“With over 1,500 students testing on Saturday, planning ahead and taking a lesser-known route to access campus will save you and everyone else time and keep traffic moving,” the district advised families.
Residents who are not participating in the SAT administration are also being encouraged to avoid Route 601 near Montgomery High School during the busiest arrival and departure periods.
The district recommends avoiding the area from approximately 7 to 8:30 a.m. and again from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Students and families participating in the SAT are encouraged to allow additional travel time and follow the district’s traffic directions when arriving on campus.
