Montgomery’s girls lacrosse team turned in another dominant performance Thursday at Cougar Stadium, defeating Hillsborough 14-3 in a game that also marked a major personal milestone for Emma Scrudato, who recorded her 100th career point.
The Cougars improved to 11-2 with a commanding effort on both ends of the field, building a 7-2 halftime lead before pulling away with a five-goal third quarter. Montgomery controlled possession throughout, finishing with a 22-6 edge in shots on goal and a 17-0 advantage in draw controls.

Kennedy Dexter led the offensive surge with five goals, while Elliana Pizzulli and Sophia Soron added three goals apiece. Scrudato scored twice in the win, reaching the 100-point mark for her career in the process. Mollie Little also found the net for Montgomery.
The Cougars’ attack was balanced and efficient throughout the afternoon. Soron added an assist to finish with four points, while Lexi Sambol contributed two assists and Lexi Lopez added one. Montgomery totaled 18 points on 14 goals and four assists.

Montgomery also dominated in the draw circle, where Pizzulli was especially effective with 10 draw controls. Soron added four, Dexter had two, and Scrudato chipped in one as the Cougars repeatedly created extra possessions and kept Hillsborough on its heels.
Defensively, Montgomery remained sharp from start to finish. Elizabeth Andes made three saves in goal, while Rachel Haggan, Dexter, and Soron each contributed two ground balls. Carson Benedict, Scrudato, and Lopez each added one ground ball as the Cougars limited Hillsborough’s opportunities.

Hillsborough’s goals came from Mary Kate Toth, Serafina Erb-Wagner, and Vanessa LaMotta, while goalie Jessica McKelvey made eight saves.
But the day belonged to Montgomery — and especially to Scrudato, whose 100th career point added an extra layer of meaning to an already emphatic Cougar victory.
