Radley’s Two Goals Power Montgomery Past Lawrenceville, 4–1
Montgomery, N.J. — The Montgomery Cougars girls’ soccer team continued their late-season surge with a convincing 4–1 victory over Lawrenceville on Wednesday afternoon, improving their record to 10–7.
Emma Radley led the charge with two goals and an assist, spearheading a relentless Montgomery attack that built a 3–0 halftime lead and never looked back.
Montgomery wasted little time setting the tone. Emma Seamon opened the scoring early in the first half off a crisp feed from Ryane Riddell, before Radley struck twice in quick succession — her first assisted by Seamon and her second set up by Amelia Montas — giving the Cougars a commanding advantage by the break.
Lawrenceville (4–11) managed to pull one back in the second half, but Quinn Donahue sealed the outcome with a late tally, assisted again by Radley, to secure the Cougars’ 10th win of the year.
In goal, Victoria Formica anchored a steady Montgomery defense, stopping nine shots and conceding just once in a strong performance between the posts.
Montgomery now turns its attention to the postseason picture, riding momentum from a balanced offensive showing in which four different players contributed points.
Jerdonek’s second-half strike lifts Montgomery past Allentown, 1–0
Montgomery 1, Allentown 0 — Montgomery (15-3-1) made a tight match tilt its way after halftime as Mac Jerdonek buried the lone goal to edge Allentown (12-8) in a 1–0 decision on Thursday.
Scoreless through the first 40 minutes, the Cougars finally broke through in the second half when Jerdonek finished a setup from Colin Long. The tally stood up behind a composed back line and a tidy night from goalkeeper Alex Acot, who turned away all three shots on frame to secure the clean sheet.
Montgomery controlled much of the run of play, outshooting Allentown 9–3 in shots on goal. That pressure forced Redbirds keeper Jaxson Bischoff into eight saves to keep the visitors within striking distance deep into regulation. But the Cougars’ sustained possession and willingness to drive numbers forward after the break produced the difference-making sequence.
Defensively, Montgomery stayed compact and disciplined, limiting Allentown to half-chances and minimizing second balls in the box. When the Redbirds did find space, Acot handled his area cleanly, smothering crosses and holding routine efforts to prevent rebounds.
Allentown’s best moments came on the counter, but the Redbirds couldn’t unlock Montgomery’s shape for a clear equalizer after falling behind. Bischoff’s work between the posts—highlighted by several strong saves through traffic—kept the outcome in doubt until the final whistle.
Key numbers:
Scoring: Montgomery—Jerdonek (Long) in the second half
Shots on goal: Montgomery 9, Allentown 3
