Historic EMS Funding Increase

Nicholas Mistretta

Mayor Neena Singh announced that the township’s annual EMS donation will increase from $70,000 to $80,000 in 2025—the largest contribution in Montgomery’s history. “They are always ready to serve, protect, and care for our community in times of need,” Singh said. “Thank you for being the heartbeat of our emergency response system.” Singh noted that the township will continue covering EMS fuel costs, which totaled $10,000 last year. She also shared that the township had negotiated on their behalf with the Village Walk developer, securing a $50,000 donation toward a new ambulance. In total, Montgomery has amassed $195,000 in funding and in-kind contributions for EMS this year.

Gratitude from the EMS Team
EMS President Sid Saran expressed deep appreciation for the township’s support.

Squad member Ellen Robbins thanked the committee for the generous donation, noting that township funding had disappeared for several years and expressing her gratitude that it has now been restored.

Captain Louis Dundi addressed the committee, saying: “As grateful as we are, our greatest asset is our people. In 2024, EMS logged 33,916 documented volunteer hours. This does not include meetings, drills, or training time. Yes, the equipment and all is necessary and important, but without these people it wouldn’t matter”.

He went on to thank the Montgomery Police Department “They respond to every call. That is unique to Montgomery. They help us move, they help us lift, they help us secure the scene. We have great relationships with both our fire companies. It’s a combination that works really well in this town. It’s because of the people who are dedicated to do the best service for the town.”
