“More Than a Market”: Dennis Ahn Opens Kasia with Community in Mind
By Nicholas Mistretta
Montgomery Township residents gathered in celebration as Kasia Market officially opened its doors last weekend, bringing with it the vibrant flavors, colors, and spirit of Asian and international cuisine. The skies cleared just in time for the grand opening festivities, which featured traditional cultural dance performances, product giveaways, and warm greetings from the community and its newest small business.
At the center of it all stood Dennis Ahn—a dedicated public servant, U.S. Army veteran, entrepreneur, and Montgomery resident—whose vision for Kasia Market is deeply rooted incommunity values.

Greeting guests with his signature hands-on approach he states “It’s about doing something right for the community.”
The market, which offers a broad selection of Asian groceries, fresh produce, and international specialties, is the latest chapter in Ahn’s commitment to service and community building. Since moving to Montgomery from Basking Ridge in 2018 with his wife, Miki, and children Kingston, 18, and Allie, 15, Ahn has become a vital part of the township’s civic fabric.

Now in his third year on the Montgomery Township Committee, Ahn also serves on the Economic Development Commission, the Municipal Alliance, and the Agricultural Advisory Committee, among other roles. A former Airborne Infantryman who enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1997 and trained at Fort Benning, Georgia, Ahn brings a strong sense of discipline, leadership, and purpose to everything he does.
His journey into local entrepreneurship began after the pandemic, when he and several college friends launched a successful Paris Baguette café in town. That venture inspired the idea for Kasia Market, which has been in development since 2021.

Guests at the grand opening shared in that sentiment, enjoying tastings and marveling at the market’s diverse offerings. The celebration featured lively dance performances representing a range of Asian cultures, emphasizing the inclusive spirit that Ahn hopes Kasia will promote.
Kasia Market is more than a new shopping destination—it’s a reflection of Ahn’s vision for a stronger, more connected Montgomery.
